VeriSource Services, Inc. (“VSI”) is a company focusing on providing benefits administration technology and HR outsourcing. VSI noticed suspicious activity on its computer network on February 28, 2024. After investigating, the company determined that unauthorized parties gained access on February 27, 2024. VSI learned that cybercriminal had stolen files containing personally identifiable information. The investigation concluded on April 17, 2025. Despite this, the company appears to have waited over a year to inform impacted consumers. The compromised information possibly includes the following sensitive data:
- full names
- addresses
- dates of birth
- genders
- Social Security numbers
VSI Data Breach
VSI recently provided notice of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the VSI data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
